Q:Do fully biodegradable plastics only degrade under composting conditions?
Oct 11 , 2022
A:Composting is just one of the scenarios in which biodegradable plastics degrade.
Most biodegradable plastics will degrade in natural environments such as soil, fresh water or seawater, and under suitable conditions of temperature and humidity, and will eventually be completely decomposed by microorganisms into environmentally harmless substances such as PBAT, PCL, PHA and other materials.
Under normal circumstances, it can be completely degraded within six months at the earliest. PLA materials can also degrade in natural environments such as soil and seawater.
